Our baby PAXTON KADE!
Jon and I waited 5 years before we decided to start our little family. I kinda wanted to graduate and we wanted to buy our home. We were able to reach those goals and here he came. I was in my last semester of college student teaching when we found out that we were expecting. We were SO excited. My pregnancy began and was pretty easy. I didn't get sick and I didn't get very big or uncomfortable. We went to the ultrasonographer and she told us that we were expecting a baby boy. We were thrilled and instantly started to work on his room. Jon was laid off his job around that same time so he had time to paint and get it all set up.... I guess a blessing in disguise. It wasn't until about May that we started having some problems. It seemed like every time we went into the doctors we kept getting scared. My belly wasn't growing very much and the doctor was concerned. She started doing ultrasounds to check the fluid and also the baby measurements. One time there she saw a spot on his brain. She sent us right over to the hospital for a rigorous 1 hour ultrasound. The doctor concluded that there wasn't anything wrong with his brain but that since he is so small he ordered non-stress tests for me two times a week. So I was going to the clinic once a week and to the hospital the other time. At the hospital on Tuesday June 16th my blood pressure was elevated but they sent me home anyway and didnt tell my doctor. The next Thursday, June 18th I went into the clinic for another stress test and she wasnt happy with my blood pressure being elevated so she sent me over to the hospital for a stress test and to be monitored. On the way I called my sister Stacy and she talked me into picking up my bag that I had packed... "Just in Case". As I laid there in the hospital gown with the monitors hooked up and listening to my baby move and his heart beat for a couple hours, Teela my doctor came to check on me. She wasnt too pleased and asked me if I had been feeling my contractions. I hadn't at all and had know idea I was having them. She decided that she didnt want to risk me having seizures or toxemia so she made the decision to start me even though my due date wasnt until July 10th. She gave me pitocin to start the contractions and gave me a few hours before she broke my water. After a couple hours I decided to receive an epidural. That was probably the hardest and scariest part if you can believe that. After a few more hours totaling about 9 hours since we were checked in, I was only dialated to a 3. Not what we wanted to hear. We received quite a scare when nurses came running in and machines started beeping. We didnt know what happened but come to find out our little ones heart rate had gone dangerously low. They called the doctor but she was already there to come and check on me and she decided that we needed to take him another way. I never imagined that I would need to have a C-section. Both of my sisters were able to deliver their babies. But we realized that we just needed to get him here so that he could be safe. Jon got all dressed up and they put a net over my hair and wheeled us out. They took me in first to prep me and then brought Jon in... behind the curtain of course so that he didnt have to see. After a few minutes of them thrashing me about and the doctors talking and saying that he didnt want to come that way either Jon started to cry. He never cries so I knew that he was worried. I kept reassuring him that I couldnt feel anything and that I was fine. It wasnt until we heard him cry at 11:17 pm that we both started to cry and feel some comfort. They flashed the baby behind the curtain so that I could see him and they rushed both him and Jon to the machines. Paxton was only 4 pounds 14 ounces so they didnt let me hold him for fear that he wasnt well. They took him back and wiped him off and put him on oxygen only to find out that our little bundle was perfectly fine just small. He had low blood sugar due to the fact that my placenta was bad and I was basically starving him so they gave him a bottle and stuck him under the warmers. I didnt get to hold my baby that night and that was so hard, I couldnt sleep because I was shaking and machines were beeping to check my blood pressure and my boots were contracting and relaxing... it was torture. That next morning I called the nursery and they delivered the most beautiful baby I had ever seen. He has been such a blessing and joy to Jon and I. After 4 days in the hospital we brought him home :)
